Everything needed to write about Shift Tracker UK correctly: what it is in one sentence, the logo and video, and the claims it can and cannot stand behind.
Last updated 21 October 2026.
In one sentence
Shift Tracker UK is a free shift, hours and pay tracker for UK workers, in any browser, that can also check the hours on a payslip against the shifts actually worked.
— the short version. Longer descriptions are below.
What it is
- Free, in a browser. No install and no account for the public calculators: the payslip hours checker and the rota hours calculator.
- An Android app on the same account, downloaded from this site. There is no Google Play listing.
- The payslip check reads a PDF on our server to extract the figures. The file is not stored there; the copy you can reopen stays in your own browser, and no employer or payroll team is contacted by the app.
- Made by one person. Nuno Costa, a UK shift worker. No company, no funding round, no marketing team.
- Kept afloat by a small advert banner. The privacy notice is the version that counts, not a summary.
How to say it accurately
These are the sentences the product can defend. They are also the ones a journalist can check in two minutes, which is the point.
Can say:
- “checks the hours on a payslip against the shifts someone logged”
- “free, in the browser, no install”
- “the payslip PDF is read on the server and is not stored”
- “a checking aid, not tax or legal advice”
- “built for any UK worker on shifts” — the site is deliberately sector-neutral
Please avoid:
- “never uploads your payslip” — the PDF is sent to the server to be read; it is not kept. The precise claim is the one above.
- “accurate to the penny”, “guarantees”, “proves underpayment” — it lists days that do not match. Your payslip and your contract remain the record.
- “for nurses / carers / warehouse staff” as a category claim. It is for shift workers at any employer.
- anything framed as tax, payroll or legal advice.
Assets

A longer description
Shift Tracker UK is a free tool for UK workers whose pay changes with the hours they work. You log shifts as you work them — start, finish, breaks and the rates that apply — and the app adds up the hours by day, week, fortnight, month and year, estimates take-home pay, and keeps a record you can go back to. When the payslip arrives, the Reconcile screen reads the PDF, compares it with the shifts you logged and lists the days that do not match, so the question “which shift is wrong?” has an answer before you email anyone.
It runs in any browser, with an Android app on the same account. The payroll arithmetic was checked line by line against 152 real UK weekly payslips before release; those payslips are private and are not published anywhere, in any form. The site quotes GOV.UK, ACAS and HMRC, and every page says when those sources were last checked.

Email shifttracker@mail.uk. There is no press office; that address reaches the person who builds the site. Questions about a specific payslip need the dates, hours and rate — never the person's name, NI number or employer, and never the payslip itself.
